Preserving Heritage with Modern Elegance: Preston

At NW Build we embark on each project with a commitment to transform houses into homes. Recently, we had the privilege of extending and adding to a family home, a project thoughtfully and creatively designed by po-co Architecture.

To seamlessly marry the new extension with the existing structure, we incorporated timber cladding on the exterior and re-used red bricks from the existing back section of the house from demolition, restoring them to their former glory. Rendered stucco on the upper section tied the entire structure together seamlessly.

Custom double-glazed timber windows and sliding doors were integrated into the extension. Inside, with elegant timber cladding on the mezzanine walls and living areas added warmth and charm. A polished concrete slab, complete with hydronic floor heating, ensured both comfort and practicality.

Central to the family's new living space was the bespoke internal kitchen joinery. Exposed timber beams and a timber ceiling beneath the mezzanine create a rustic yet inviting focal point.

In our work, we prioritise environmental and historical preservation. Existing trees on the property were carefully conserved, and the old brickwork was maintained and repurposed. Despite the challenges posed by limited site access, our dedication ensured the project's success.
